• Temporary, full-time, 9-day fortnight schedule
• Excluded position: $29.87 - $32.96 per hour based on experience

Job Summary

The Fundraising Assistant will work in collaboration with the Fund Development Team to carry out DEWC’s fundraising strategy. Reporting to the Fund Development Team, she will help to plan fundraising campaigns and other events, develop grant applications, create documents, source new tools and techniques, support third-party fundraisers, solicit new stakeholders, maintain the CRM database, and other administrative work as necessary.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Administration

  • Produces and downloads the monthly donation reports
  • Maintains the tracking of donations and assists with donor engagement and recognition, including tax receipts
  • Assists with maintenance and updates of information in Salesforce
  • Coordinates day-to-day activities, including receiving and responding to donor inquiries and in-kind donation requests.
  • Oversees the processing of financial donations and in-kind contributions, including the production of charitable tax receipts.

 

Development

  • Helps to solicit partnerships, in-kind donations, and community sponsorships for events and programs.
  • As requested, conducts research to identify individual, government, corporate and foundation donor prospects as well as opportunities for grant applications.
  • Compiles documents & support information for grant applications.
  • Drafts grant applications with support from Grants and Contracts Specialist
  • Other duties not specified that may be assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or a closely related field.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in the non-profit sector, especially those familiar with women's advocacy or community support organizations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Experience in database management with a strong emphasis on Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with experience managing multiple projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the challenges facing women in the Downtown Eastside and an ability to approach these challenges with sensitivity and understanding.
  • Experience in or willingness to work compassionately with a diverse community of women, understanding and respecting varied backgrounds, experiences, and needs.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, occasionally chaotic environments.
  • Candidate must undergo a criminal record check
  • Hourly position that requires some work outside of normal business hours to undertake position responsibilities, meet deadlines, and ensure delivery of high-quality programs and services.
