Director, Fund Development & Communications

Full-Time Permanent | Vancouver, BC

The Director, Fund Development & Communications is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of DEWC’s fundraising, donor relations, grants, and communications plan. The director will develop, implement, and oversee a multi-year fundraising plan including major gifts, annual appeal, planned giving and special events. Managing the Fund Development team, this position requires a true strategic partner who is collaborative and capable of building consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, DEWC the Director works closely with the board and DEWC leadership team to ensure the success of DEWC strategic objectives. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Director, Direct Services

Full-Time Permanent | Vancouver, BC

The Director, Direct Services is responsible for the strategic planning and overall management and supervision of the shelter, drop-in and food security (kitchen) programs including supervision of the program managers, developing and managing the program budgets, developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing relationships with funders and donors and ensuring all services provided align with DEWC mission and philosophy. This position requires a true strategic partner who is collaborative and capable of building consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, DEWC, the Director will work closely with the DEWC leadership team to ensure the success of DEWC and her strategic objectives.  She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Facilities Coordinator

Full-Time Permanent | Vancouver, BC

The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the daily operational, maintenance, and repair needs of DEWC locations are carried out in a manner consistent with industry best practices ensuring a safe and reliable environment for the delivery of programs and services. Reporting directly to the Manager of Operations and Administration, the Facilities Coordinator will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to ensure smooth operations of DEWC. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

People & Culture Coordinator

The People & Culture Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support to the People & Culture team focusing on creating a positive workplace. Reporting directly to the Director, People & Culture, the Coordinator will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to ensure services to women. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Housing Intake Worker

Full-Time Temporary | Vancouver, BC

The Housing Intake Worker is responsible to provide intake, assessment and referrals to women accessing the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. She will work with women who are at homelessness or at risk of homelessness and who live in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver to assess their eligibility for the Housing Outreach program and support services. She will set up appointments and provide service referrals as appropriate. Reporting directly to the Specialized Services Manager, the Housing Intake Worker will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to promote integrated services to women. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Kitchen Trainer

Casual Relief | Vancouver, BC

The Kitchen Trainer is primarily responsible for providing a nutritious meal within a busy and chaotic drop-in centre and/or emergency night shelter including meal planning and preparation, serving, cleaning and maintenance, customer service skills, stock taking and ordering.   She will participate in supporting a relevant training program for community volunteers in all aspects of the kitchen. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, she will collaborate with other DEWC staff to promote integrated services to women.  She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Shelter Manager

Full-Time Permanent | Vancouver, BC

The Manager, Shelter is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the DEWC Shelter. She oversees all aspects of operations and human resources functions ensuring a safe, responsive, and respectful environment in line with the mission and mandate of the DEWC and in accordance with funding contracts. Reporting directly to the Director, Direct Services, the Manager will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to ensure services to women.  She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Housing Outreach Worker

Reporting directly to the Specialized Services Manager, the Housing Outreach Worker will provide outreach services to women who live in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, supporting them in establishing and maintaining appropriate safe housing. Cultural Activity Programmer

Full-Time Permanent | Vancouver, BC

The Cultural Programmer is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of cultural, recreational, social and/or educational programs that are consistent with the mission and mandate of the DEWC.  Her responsibility will include working with DEWC members ensuring relevant programming that maximizes their decision making and participation.  Reporting directly to the Manager of Programs, the Cultural Programmer will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to promote integrated services to women.  She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework

Housing Outreach Worker

Full-Time Temporary | Vancouver, BC

Reporting directly to the Housing Program Manager, the Housing Outreach Worker will provide outreach services to women who live in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, supporting them in establishing and maintaining appropriate safe housing. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.

Indigenous women and women of colour are strongly encouraged to apply / Additional languages spoken an asset – The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre operates two drop-in centres and three shelters in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, providing a wide range of essential services and supports to women and children in the community. The successful candidate must work from a feminist analysis and within a strong anti-oppression framework.
