Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. Volunteers are integral to our ongoing work to provide a safe and welcoming space for all women in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Volunteer opportunities are available for women (cis, trans, 2S) over the age of 18.
Possible roles
Depending on their aspirations and skills, volunteers can be assigned to all kinds of roles and events:
- Facilitate recurring workshops and activities for the women we serve: game nights for Indigenous Women, karaoke nights, movie nights…
- Teach English classes or support with English-Mandarin translations
- Hair style and make-up for beauty nights
- Contribution to yearly events: Harvest Dinner, Lunar New Year, Indigenous People’s Day, Truth & Reconciliation Day…
How to become a volunteer
1- Fill out the form – please note, we are behind on reaching out to everyone, but we keep your response and will reach out as soon as we have the capacity to do so
2- Keep an eye on your emails, you will get an invitation to the next volunteer orientation meeting
3- Attend the meeting and learn more about our community, and the upcoming volunteering opportunities.
4- You’ll then be added to our pool of volunteers and will receive opportunities to contribute.
5- Get fulfilling roles, meet extraordinary people and have fun!
