Volunteers contribute over 60,000 hours each year in a variety of capacities in a variety of roles:
- Clothing Room Attendant
- Board Member
- Food Preparation
- Food Service
- Clerical duties
- Hospital Visits
- Computer Network Support
- Program Delivery
- Special Events
- … and much more
At the Centre our first focus is providing for the basics: food, shelter, clothing and refuge. Volunteers help contribute fresh air and inspiration to improving quality of life through outings, special events and program delivery, creativity, and recognition of things that lead to a life with beauty. The relationships they make as well as their energy and support help make the Centre the warm and welcoming place that it is.
The volunteer program supports women of the community who also contribute to Centre activities through the Skills & Development Program. Read more about Skills & Development here.
Thank you for your volunteer support of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre community. Your contributions are essential to the future of our organization and those of the women and children we serve.
