July 16th was a day of pride celebrations at our sites!
Both our 302 Columbia Drop-in Centre and our 412 E Cordova shelter had activities planned for the women to enjoy.
Everyone was excited to participate in a Pride Trivia.
💬Kerrista, the Cultural Programs Coordinator says “We had 10 questions in total, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly the women were able to get the correct answers! They were also very excited when they peeked into their gift bags! Each bag consisted of a rainbow eye makeup kit and brushes from Suva as well as a Doordash gift card.”
🎈And a day of celebration wouldn’t be quite complete without a bingo – a big favourite of the women we serve!
🍔🍰Our kitchen also came through with a mouth-watering menu: a chicken and bacon burger, and rainbow cake for dessert. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
On Aug 4th, staff members proudly represented DEWC at the Vancouver Pride Parade! 🌈❤️ The energy and support from the crowd filled our hearts with joy. We are proud to embrace our queerness and committed to making the world a kinder place for the women of the Downtown Eastside. #VancouverPride
