The two-week countdown begins for Herstory in Focus, the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre’s second annual fundraising event hosted at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Last year’s sold-out Herstory raised $20,000 for DEWC, and this year, in light of rising demands for our services, we’re aiming for $35,000. As the highlight of our night, women of the Downtown Eastside will perform a fashion show in celebration of their personality, expression and resilience.
Herstory in Focus will be emceed by Global TV’s Lynn Colliar and include a silent auction with items generously donated by Bauhaus, the Coastal Peoples Fine Art Gallery, Tapestry at Wesbrook Village, Arts Club Theatre, Science World and more. As our annual organizational fundraiser, Herstory provides a unique opportunity to witness women’s strength and empowerment up close, connect with other supporters, and participate in supporting our community. Funds raised at Herstory directly contribute to the crucial services and safe space DEWC provides, and sustain our ongoing work in the Downtown Eastside.
