The Women’s Street Market returned this September for a total of three Saturdays (2nd, 9th, and 16th). The market gives women who use our services a chance to sell clothing or various items that they’ve made, in an environment that promotes their empowerment and their safety.
A word from Myrtle, a Team lead for the Women’s Market:
In her role as Peer Team Lead for The Women’s Market, Myrtle has shared her valuable insights and reflections on the event. Myrtle has found her experience to be filled with joy and excitement, describing it as “lots of fun.” She speaks highly of her fellow team members, noting that they are “good people to work with,” emphasizing the positive and collaborative atmosphere that defines the market.
Expressing her passion for The Women’s Market, Myrtle expresses her desire to participate again, highlighting her enjoyment of “making noise” and bringing vibrant energy to the market and its attendees. Her enthusiasm and dedication to the event’s success are evident.
Furthermore, Myrtle emphasizes the need for more long-term market initiatives to better accommodate the diverse schedules of women who may not be able to attend every week on a single day. She proposes hosting the market more frequently, possibly on cheque days or other days aligned with federal or provincial pay schedules, such as Pension or GST days.”
