Funds needed to provide work opportunities to the women of the DTES

Nov 3, 2023

50 of our team members are “peers” participating in our skills development program: empowering the women in our community by offering low-barrier employment opportunities, learning skills like leadership and team work, while allowing them to establish routines and to give back to their community.

Recently, we have been facing an overwhelming demand from women to join our team as peers to keep a pace with the cost of living. Currently, a huge part of this program is funded through individual donations. To continue providing these incredibly important opportunities, and hope that more women can access it and find empowerment, we need to raise $200,000.

Women who are part of the program report feeling more confident, more able to make the choices that they feel are good for them, it also provides them with enough flexibility to work whenever they are able to. For example, Sam, who has been working at our shelter is thriving since she started!
