As part of our Chinese Seniors Program at our drop-in centre at 302 Columbia Street, we celebrated the gift of harvest with beautiful dancing and tai chi from the participants of the program which served as a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the moon and the connections this community cherishes to this joyous festival!
During this celebration, families usually come together to have a feast, worship and appreciate the moon, and light paper lanterns. The women, too, enjoyed the delicious traditional meal crafted by our kitchen team.
Last week, we also teamed up with our friends at the Carnegie Centre to offer a mooncake making workshop, where over 100 people enthusiastically learnt (or rediscovered) how to make their own mooncakes.
We gratefully acknowledge the generous support of the Government of Canada in making this event possible.
